Winter Highball Competition 2024

Brrring it on! The Winter Highball is back. Clear your calendar on Saturday, December 7th from 9am-2:30pm, because you're bouldering (or spectating if that's more your speed) at On the Rocks.

If you're unfamiliar with the Highball, it's simple: you're looking at a one-day-only, boulder-only competition. We shut down the gym for the morning and competitors tackle a completely fresh reset of the boulder wall. We then crunch the numbers, and the highest scorers in each division walk away with some pretty sick prizes.

Pricing:⁠
❄️ $25 members, $40 non-members (includes limited edition sticker); capped at 40 participants with a waitlist

Event Details:⁠
❄️ 9:00am-10:15am: gym opens; participant check-in, warm-up (non-comp climbs available for warm-up)
❄️ 10:15am-10:30am: welcome, rules discussion
❄️ 10:30am-1:30pm: Highball
❄️ 1:30pm-2:00pm: score calculation
❄️ 2:00pm-2:30pm: thank yous, awards presentation

⁠Divisions: self-seeded (highest grade that the competitor can climb in a session)⁠
❄️ V0-V1
❄️ V2-V3⁠
❄️ V4-V5
❄️ V6+

❄️ Note: Competitors will automatically be moved up or down a division based on their overall point total. Final standings will be determined by grouping competitors together as closely as possible.

Rules:
❄️ Each competitor's score consists of the combined total of the 5 highest point value boulder problems climbed.
❄️ If competitors' scores are tied at the end of competition, the tiebreaker will be based on the fewest number of attempts.

Prizes:⁠
❄️ 1st and 2nd place in each division receive prizes
